Can trauma become our opportunity for healing? The groundbreaking documentary, featuring Dr. Gabor Maté and produced by Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo from Science and Nonduality (SAND), comes to the Onassis Stegi Main Stage to reveal the wisdom that trauma can offer.
From the streets of Canada to San Francisco, and from a prison yard to the setting of a psychedelic therapy session, the film presents personal stories of prisoners, drug addicts, and people with mental illness, shedding light on the relationship between trauma, disease, and society. The film follows internationally renowned physician, author, and mental health expert Dr. Gabor Maté as he explores the hidden wisdom of trauma and the interconnected epidemics of anxiety, substance abuse, and chronic illness afflicting Western society. Through the film, a new vision emerges for an informed society, where individuals are empowered to achieve their own healing. Because, as he himself says, “The question is not ‘what’s wrong with this person?’ but ‘what happened to them?’” The film will be screened at Onassis Stegi as part of the discussion with Dr. Gabor Maté.
